Done is better than perfect.
I guess the obvious question needs to be answered: What took you so long? Honestly, I’m re-educating myself in web design while simultaneously building my client base. I’m thankful to have stayed busy this year with paid work and after years of designing for print, I’m working on getting my head back in the web design game by learning Genesis Framework for WordPress. I also ended up changing web hosts right before the launch, but that’s a story for another post.
I’ve spent the majority of the last decade working in the stationery and print design industry. I took a huge leap of faith in 2011 when I became a Digital Media and Design Specialist for a small startup in Nashville, Tennessee. I learned so much in that position about web design, web administration, digital media design, corporate brand management, and social media management. When we moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2012, I kept my design position with iPractice Group and began to work remotely. It was challenging – different time zones, no office, new surroundings – but completely worth it because it taught me how to manage myself. In January 2013, the company filed for bankruptcy and I was left without a job. I had wanted to try working for myself for a very long time and with some coaxing from my darling husband, I started Designibly.
With a little luck and a lot of networking, I’ve kept quite busy in 2013! I’m very proud of what I’ve accomplished thus far and excited to see what 2014 holds in store for my little business. Please stop by again very soon and be sure to keep up with me on your favorite social media site. Happy Holidays!
